bubble tea recipes?
does anyone else like bubble tea? pete and i got some the other day, and i have been craving one every day since. i got a mango pineapple one, but there was no milk in it. i guess some are made with milk, but mine wasn't. i figure i could recreate it, but has anyone else made bubble tea before and have a great recipe to share?
*we can't go to uptown to get this delicious drink, because izzy doesn't like the sound of blenders and the smell of dirty hippies.

i don't have a recipe yet, but i recently bought the tapioca balls and huge straws to make it with at the asian supermarket in town. i can't wait! i love the stuff!
eva, is the asian market the only place you can find the giant straws? i haven't really looked for them yet, but it occurred to me after you said it that i would need a big straw.

the best, I mean, the absolute best place in the world to get boba is in san diego called tapioca heaven.
they even make it with lychee bits.

if you ever make it out to chicago, I'll take you to a really yummy bubble tea joint. The bubble tea smoothies are made with fresh fruit. So good.
i have never seen a recipe for bubble shakes, but i have bought kits before. they only place i've found the kits are at this huge asian grocery in seattle. they come with the big straws and tapioca pearls and everything you need. it seems like the secret ingredient is this boba powder stuff that gives it that creamy-milky-kind of taste and texture that is oh so good and just a little different from a regular milk shake. i have also seen websites that sell the kits and straws and stuff. if you do find a recipe, let me know!
i'll have to look for the kits next time, becca. thanks for the tip. i opted for just the straws and some pearls.
mo, i would love to come and visit chicago one day. i always meant to when ssssarah lived out there, but i never did. it may have to wait until sometime next year when izzy doesn't need me as much for food.
jon, i lived in san diego for half a year and never got to go to that wonderful place. i don't know that i even knew what bubble tea was back then. next time i head out to san diego, i will have to check it out.
