cousin it look-a-like
with my crazy kinks growing out (thank you hormone changes) and my bangs acting as my own personal shades, i feel it is time to get a new haircut. plus, we are moving and i am leaving my beloved hairstylist. it took me a little while to find her here in minnesota, so i am dreading the hunt and potential bad haircuts in utah.
you see, not everyone can cut straight, asian hair well. all you girls with hair similar to mine know what i mean. mistakes are not easily hidden. lack of layering can make one's head look like a paintbrush. too much layering or poor cutting skills can wreak havoc on the hair. plus, i hate it when certain hairstylists feel that they have to impose their style on your head. i never tell them i want my hair to be giant and heavily-laden with product. they just assume.
anyway, i found a couple of 'dos i like. they're not terribly new or exciting, because i am trying to be realistic with how much time my child allows me to do my hair.

i really love the top one! I would do that if i thought my hair could look like that..
mary, i could see your hair being styled into the top one. it's my favorite too. i actually went and got my hair cut today, and my stylist said that the top cut is really styled--meaning that they spent a lot of time round-brushing it and putting some product in to get it to look like that.
my cut ended up being a combo of the top one and the bottom one. it's already much easier to maintain and takes little to no time drying and styling.
anyone out in utah have some stylist recommendations or places to go?
shep's is great. although the girl i got had attitude i really couldn't fault her skills, the cut was really good. the main con is that they're usually pretty booked and i'm so spontaneous when i decide that i want a haircut that i can't wait that long.

amanda, so i've been going to this guy named shep that is in provo of all places. you'll know what i mean when you go to his salon. i think he would love to cut your hair--he's a big egg--he loves everything asian. he charges $60 which is steep, i know, but i justify it since i don't color my hair or get my nails done. since i've had babies my hair's fallen out so a good cut does wonders for me. love these cuts! can't wait to see you!
i avoid pictures more these days, because i still feel frumpy. i'm working on it, though. plus, pete can always catch my bad angles in a picture.
thanks sarah and barbie. i've heard/read that shep's is one of the best. $60 is pretty steep, but i already spend $55 here. so i am used to it, i guess.
