what's that you say?
so i've been on a concert/show hiatus for a little while, because i've either been too busy/too tired/not in the mood to be out until 2 am. i wanted to see catpower a month or so ago, and it was supposed to be my last show before the baby was born. i opted to lay on my couch that night though. the idea of standing for 2 hours wedged between people who just thought i was fat (and not pregnant) didn't appeal to me.
however, pete and i still want to go see bands even with the baby. minnesota has a fantastic smoking ban for most clubs and bars, so it would not be a problem for us in the future. my only concern is the frighteningly loud music that her infant ears would be exposed to. so i did some research, and i think i may get these.
the brand is originally made for people who work on airline tarmacs, so i think they will do the job.
this summer, cloud cult, the new pornographers, bon iver and andrew bird are playing at a sculpture garden in the cities. baby faleschini is so going, sporting her own little rock muffs. isn't the thought of it so sickeningly cute?

i've seen a photo of apple martin at her dad's show wearing these.
nice. she is going to look so cool.
i forgot to ask if anyone knew if ear plugs were better. i thought i read somewhere that babies don't like having things shoved in their ears, which makes sense. no one does.
i was also very conflicted about the things i exposed ocean to. one time when he was still very brand new and sleeping all the time, we tried to go see a movie, but i had such anxiety i took ocean out and waited for the others in the hallway. these may have helped me and ocean.
nice... btw, you guys need to introduce me to some good new music. I'm tired of my playlist.
I will definitely get these someday
I want to get those too, but wasn't sure if they would fit a baby's head. We took our gal to a show once when she was little and i spent the entire evening shoving the ear plugs back in her ears (she didn't mind them, they just kept falling out).
I just saw a clip of Gwen at a concert with her son and he had these (or some similar) on. He didn't seem bothered. And by way of annoying, introduce them early...even if you aren't going out that day, put them on her so that that aren't new the same time everythign else around her is different. (also be sure not to walk on egg shells when she is sleeping. (this is true even if you don't go out). Keep the tv, a radio, music, the vacuume, anything on. It is really important for her to learn to sleep through noise, and is comforting becasue your belly is very noisy! ;p..wow look at me i'm one of those mom/teachers who blubbers out unsolicited advice...im sorry!
that's great advice meagan. don't worry. it's not unsolicited or annoying, like it sometimes can be from other people (i apologize if i have gotten that way with others...).
she will probably have a lot of music playing around her, because i like having music playing almost all the time. i just hope she likes my music tastes too, because it will be fun to take her to shows/concerts throughout her life.
